Whether you are new to sushi rolling or experienced in making your own, this class is sure to expand your sushi horizons. We'll begin with a review of sushi rolling basics and then explore a range of topics including designing sushi rolls that feature the freshest and most sustainable seafood harvested along the Maine coast; using brown rice; trends in veggie sushi such as pink rice, beet rolls and marinated tomato nigiri; guidance on purchasing and proper handling of raw fish; making sushi burritos; and how to plan a complete sushi-themed dinner party with homemade miso soup, seaweed salad and a beautiful sushi platter that includes something for everyone, from strict vegans to the ardent sashimi fans. You’ll be busy making sushi from the start, so in addition to your favorite sharp knife, bring a large container to take your creations home.
